Cosmetology school encompasses many careers in beauty.

It offers both men and women the opportunity to meet people, express creativity, and derive a great deal of personal satisfaction through beauty and barber school training. The time investment for professional preparation as a cosmetologist is considerably less than that needed for other occupations. The financial investment of beauty and barber school tuition costs is also low in contrast to the return that may be experienced as a successful hair designer or barber.

A career in cosmetology is one of the most dynamic and in demand careers you can choose. According to an independent survey, almost 40,000 cosmetology jobs went unfilled because there are far more entry-level jobs than there are new cosmetologists!

A cosmetology license opens the doors to a broad range of pursuits in the beauty field.

Stylist or Make-Up Artist for Film, Theater, Fashion  La James College High School Summer Cosmetology Program

Special students may enroll in the Cosmetology program at La James College Mason City for the summer months between their junior and senior years in high school. By starting in our summer beauty school program in June, these students may complete 280 hours or more of the cosmetology course over the next couple of months. At the end of the summer beauty school program the students may continue their cosmetology training on a part time basis during their senior year. After high school graduation the Summer Program students may continue training and be ready for a position in the beauty profession much sooner.

La James College’s student population is filled with women and men from all over including Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota as well as international students from around the world
