Come in for a make over that includes spa manicures and pedicures, facials, as well as all types of hair care (perms, color, spa hair treatments and much more) If you decide to join our class you will be trained to take care of your clients hair, skin, nails as well as taught how to remove any unwanted hair with our hot wax spa.

Description of the Cosmetology Program:
  • The Cosmetics arts program is designed to prepare students for the NC State Board licensing examination and for a career in a very exciting, interesting and well paying field of cosmetology that includes hair, skin, nail care as well as the opportunities that go along with this profession.
  • New students are accepted at the beginning of fall and spring semester
  • Approximate cost of program is as follows:
    Tuition $300.00
    Books $150.00
    Kits $200.00
General Course Information:Scientific Study I, II, III, and IV
5 hours per week of Classroom study involves every aspect of cosmetology, Hair, skin, nails, facials and massage, as well as professional ethics, personal hygiene and grooming, sanitation, human anatomy, electricity, and salon management.

Clinical Application I, II, III,& IV
24 hours per week of Hands on clinical application includes every aspect of hairstyling and cosmetics. Live models are used beginning second quarter or as soon as 300 hours of clinic time is reached.

Mannequin Practice
Beginning students use mannequins to practice hands-on procedures. 24 hours per week is spent in hair care, manicuring, and all aspects of the beauty profession. Three hundred state hours of mannequin practice enables students to work on the public, with confidence and knowledge of the job to be performed.

Special Projects
Students find by doing special projects that learning can be fun. Each semester the students are required to do a special project pertaining to what they studied that particular semester. Fall Semester the project is Hair Coloring and Permanent Waves, Spring Semester the project is on facials , massage, make-up, manicuring and pedicuring. Summer semester is on Salon management and designing a salon from a floor plan, to picking out and purchasing the equipment and supplies (This is a Make believe shop, all costs are included as if this was an actual business), these projects are assigned at the beginning of each semester and it usually takes all semester to get the project ready to present. Projects are on video for anyone interested in Cosmetology to view. Fashion shows, visits to day spas, and to week-end hair shows are just a few of the fun as well as the educational things we do.

Cosmetology Options:Apprentice Licenses
1200 hours in a certified school of cosmetic arts in North Carolina
Hands on Procedures that must be completed during this time is set by the NC State Board of Cosmetic Arts
This requirement can be completed in (4) quarters
After meeting all school and State requirements, Graduate is required to work in a beauty establishment under the supervision of a licensed cosmetologist for six months.

Cosmetology Licenses
1500 hours in a certified school of cosmetic arts
The number of State Procedures increase with this licenses
This requirement can be completed in (5) quarters
After passing licensing exam graduate may go to work with no further work experience.
