Cosmetology is the art and science of beautifying and improving the nails, skin and hair, and study of cosmetics, chemicals and small business. The Cosmetology program is an 11 month course equaling 1500 clock hours. Students may enter the program four times a year.
Field InternshipEach student can participate in a 60 hour internship program in conjunction with the district’s most successful salons.
Various Job TitlesStylist, haircolor specialist, esthetician, makeup artist, nail technician, manicurist, pedicurist, salon manager, salon owner, product educator, cosmetic chemist, artistic director, platform artist, writer, state board member
Program Requirements- File an application for admission to Kaskaskia College.
- File a final high school transcript or GED scores. Must be a high school graduate or GED recipient to enter the program.
- Take the English portion of the ASSET test or the Nelson Denny Reading test or the ACT test. Scores must indicate an 8th grade reading level.
- Review, sign and return the “Cosmetology course requirements and specifics” document.
- Complete the Cosmetology Admission Worksheet
- Once the worksheet has been completed, an acceptance letter will be mailed to the prospective student.
