These are turbulent times for nonprofit organizations – tougher competition

for charitable gifts, declining governmental funding sources, and increased needs

in our communities just to name a few sources of today’s pressures. In recent

years, we have also seen the public magnifying glass become more and more

focused on nonprofit organizations as the demand for accountability and

outcomes has intensified. More perhaps now than ever before, the nonprofit

manager needs to have a broad range of well-honed skills to lead and manage

their organizations successfully.

Essentials of Nonprofit Management,

Lakes Center for Youth Development,

with the tools they need to address current issues and solve problems typical to

today’s nonprofit organizations. This seven-part series of skill-building

workshops will engage participants in not only exploring contemporary topics

in nonprofit management, but also networking with other nonprofit leaders

about their successes and challenges. The workshop topics will focus on smart

leadership, building the board, marketing, managing volunteers, raising needed

funds, building advocacy, and utilizing data in decision-making.

Nonprofit organizations are created and supported because people are

passionate about their missions and the work they do in the community. By

becoming stronger, more effective managers, nonprofit leaders can help their

organizations be more successful and meet local needs.
