Presentation
The Medical Coding Specialist (MCS) program is designed to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills in health information coding which is transforming verbal descriptions of disease, injury and procedures into numeric codes. The Medical Coder analyzes health records, prepares bills, completes insurance forms correctly, and assigns codes to appropriately determine medical billing.
The Medical Coder is an integral member of the healthcare team. Administering appropriate billing requires the capturing of accurate and timely data. Coding professionals fulfill this need as key players in the healthcare workplace. A Medical Coder has the ability to negotiate and communicates effectively with physician and insurance companies regarding appropriate medical charges.
