If you’re looking for a career in music production, we’ll give you an opportunity to learn all the techniques needed to produce music. Perhaps you’d like to become involved in the business aspects of the music industry. Or if you’re a performer at heart, we can help develop your skills. The Program
This program is designed to prepare students for careers in music production, performance, and business management. Along with an introduction to all aspects of music, you will select one specialization for in-depth study and training, all involving hands-on experiences. Each quarter, you’ll have an opportunity to learn from visiting guest lectures, notable professionals in the music and entertainment industry.

Your courses at Hocking are modularized, meaning that you focus intently on a specific subject for several weeks at a time. This intensity helps you to really hone your skills and allows exposure to working professionals.

An international immersion experience is required in this one-of-a-kind program, too. In your 2nd year, spend a quarter living, learning at Hocking College’s sister college, Havering College in London, England, a school renowned for its pop music production and performance program.

Music “Core”
Work with all students in, music production, performance, and business management and develop foundational skills that are essential for any career in music. Take beginning classes in production, performance, and business in modularized courses which give you a “taste” of these three exciting music elements. Also, meet with Victor Pisano, an internationally known producer and screenwriter, who serves as a Hocking College adjunct faculty who will help you to strategize for your career in entertainment.

Specialization- 3 quarters
Choose from one of three focused areas: Production, Performance, or Music Business Management

• Production
  Intensify your experience by learning in a studio how to produce and mix music from a variety of genres. Also, gain a multi-national perspective in courses at Havering College in London, and perhaps partner with British students for production opportunities both in London and the USA.
• Performance
  Experience and train in every aspect of performance. We introduce you to a variety of instruments; once you select your favorite, you’ll have an opportunity to become an expert. Our lab is designed with individual and ensemble practice rooms so you’ll have a wonderful practice space. Havering College offers you the opportunity to gain experience in London, putting your performance skills to the test on both sides of the Atlantic.
• Music Business Management
  Perhaps you are interested in the business of music and entertainment. Discover the organization and management of a career in music. Learn to develop strategic plans and to market a music performance to attract audiences. A quarter in London marketing student-run productions will enhance your resume with a multi-national immersion experience.
